One of President Abraham Lincoln's most often repeated sayings is: "You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time". Americans elected Barack Obama for a second term with a smaller majority than that of his first term, and Congress is now in Republican hands, seemingly proving Lincoln correct.
