South Carolina Senators Lindsey Graham and Tim Scott say they have been assured by the Commandant of the Coast Guard that Air Facility Charleston will stay open through at least Dec. 15. In a release from the U.S. Senate, Graham says he is hopeful the delay will give Congress time to find necessary funds to continue the facility's operation. "Closing the Air Facility Charleston will mean that the closest Coast Guard search and rescue helicopter will be almost 80 miles away," Graham said in the release.
