Strickland's Senate Announcement Sets Up Big-Name Clash With Portman

Former Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland officially launched a Senate campaign Wednesday morning, laying the groundwork for a November 2016 clash with Republican Sen. Rob Portman-unless a rare contested Democratic Senate primary blocks his path. "I'm running for the United States Senate in 2016 because I am determined to restore the American Dream for working people in this country," Strickland said in an emailed statement.
