New HMS Dido book tells how Bolton raised 1.2 million for war effort in one week

Former crew members of HMS Dido, pictured with the Mayor and Mayoress of Bolton, Cllr and Mrs Gerald Riley at a reunion dinner. In just one week in the 1930s, the people of Bolton raised a remarkable A 1.2 million to aid the coming war effort and "adopt" a new warship.
