Newly published Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff findings appear to provide wiggle room for adopting rules to open a national nuclear waste dump in the Nevada desert, if decision-makers want to go forward. But Nevada elected officials -- including Senators Harry Reid and Dean Heller -- say the final two volumes of a key NRC report underscore their argument that the Yucca Mountain project is a bad idea that should remain mothballed.
