Fourth Circuit Public Defender Matt Shirk entered 2015 without facing criminal charges and secure in the knowledge that The Florida Bar will not seek to discipline him while in office despite the recommendations of a grand jury. Now Shirk must figure out a way to salvage a political career severely damaged by allegations that he sent sexually suggestive text messages to employees, deleted public records and spent campaign funds in an auction benefiting the private school of a family member.
