South Boat ramp opens as Lake Mendocino rises

USACE Spokesman J.D. Hardesty said the boat ramp had been closed earlier this year because the water level was so low, people could not drive far enough down the ramp to launch. "Everything had to be hand-launched," Hardesty said, adding that the heavier-than-normal rainfall so far this season boosted the level of the lake so much that "water has come up into the channel."
