The Savannah City Council on Tuesday followed through with a promise to start the Project Ceasefire Initiative and implement a strategic plan for fighting back against violent crime in area neighborhoods. The council approved a one-year contract with the New York-based National Network for Safe Communities to consult with Savannah-Chatham police in developing a strategic plan using research, evidence, local data and community resources.
