I'd just written a piece that was not unkind about the parents of Brian Dickson - and when you're talking about the family of a killer, merely not being actively unkind is revolution enough - who was that day convicted of first-degree murder in the April 15, 2011, slaying of Qian Hui Liu, a York University student from Beijing.
